Through the Looking Glass

MVAN has been given the Through the Looking Glass exhibition space in Rose Yard to curate until the end of 2012.

Each month a different group of artists from MVAN will collaborate to exhibit their work in the space.

Maidstone Cultural Olympiad Banner

To celebrate the strong cultural life in the Maidstone area, over 30 groups have been brought together by the Maidstone Area Arts Partnership and MVAN to create a banner which will feature in the Olympic Torch celebrations in Mote Park on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th July.

Throughout May, MVAN are displaying a preview of the banner in the Rose Yard Gallery window. You will also be able to see the banner in the Maidstone Museum coffee shop from Friday 6th July and throughout the summer games.

Since January people have been stitching away to create a little piece of history and the tiles on display here are a small taste of how the finished banner will look. Many more will surround the Maidstone Coat of Arms. The design of the banner reflects the copper tile cladding on the new extension to the museum and also the history contained within.
